“Love loves to love love.”

– James Joyce, Ulysses

Your love story is just that: yours. It is a one-of-a-kind series of moments you share with one another, coming together to form a life of love. And I hope you’ll allow me to be part of this story as you plan the invitations to ask family and friends together to celebrate your partnership.

Starting with your save the date, then your invitation, and, finally, your reception pieces, the paper elements of your wedding give your guests the first peek of your magical marital day to come. They should display the important information you wish to give your guests—but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Your wedding stationery should also convey the moods, feelings, wonder, and inspiration that you want the wedding to bring to life.

PLANNING PROCESS

When we begin working together, we’ll start with discussing the overall vision for your wedding so that your invitations and paper goods tie seamlessly in with the rest of your day. I love creating work that embodies the spirit of your partnership and the uniqueness of your special day—crafting romantic suites all in calligraphy; creating artwork inspired by your favorite florals, your historic venue, a place that holds memories; or including a meaningful calligraphy quote insert that captures the essence of your relationship.

It is helpful if you already have references for color palette, floral ideas, other paper products you love, and anything else that inspires you so that I can help bring the vision in your head into reality. During our first call, email, or Skype, we will discuss all the ways you can incorporate calligraphy, stationery, and any other Lady G Paperie pieces into your wedding—from save the dates and invitations to seating signs and menus. And if you have an especially unique piece you’d like to try, I’d love to hear about it! I do not set limits upon my clients’ imaginations, so don’t feel like you can only include items you’ve seen done before or in the Lady G gallery. I am open to your ideas, love a challenge, and am most inspired by that which inspires my clients.

WORKING TOGETHER

Once we have had a chance to discuss your wants, needs, and ideas, I will create a proposal including all the pieces we’ve discussed as well as how varying details will affect the pricing of your stationery. After the proposal has been approved and we begin our partnership, I will send you sketches of the vision we work out together. At this point, the vision can change and grow—and I’m happy to work with you through that. I want to know what you love, what you don’t, and what you were too afraid to ask for but really think you want. This stationery is for and about you, so let’s explore and make this process as enjoyable and fun for you as possible.

When the sketches and details have been finalized, we will then go through rounds of proofs and mock-ups until you are utterly thrilled and are ready to print.

GENERAL TIMELINE

Custom calligraphy, invitations, and stationery goods should, ideally, be requested at least 6 months prior to your wedding date in order to give ample time for planning, designing, printing, and mailing. The recommended mailing time for save the dates is 6–8 months before your wedding and for invitations it’s about 6–8 weeks.

A full suite generally takes about 8–10 weeks from planning to final packaging, but if you are working on a tighter schedule than that, please let me know and I’ll see if we can find ways to make it work.

For reception pieces there is a bit more wiggle room; depending on bulk, I generally start these about one month before the wedding. If there are edits to names, guest counts, or items needed between the initial proposal and the time when I begin work on the reception pieces I am happy to work with you to make those, so please keep me informed of any changes in your plan.

INVESTMENT

All pricing in my proposal is reflective of the bespoke custom pieces each client receives when working with Lady G Paperie. Each invitation project is unique and will be given an individualized quote once we have discussed the details of your vision. Please view the Lady G Paperie Calligraphy Pricing Guide for more information about base rates and a la carte services. The price for invitation packaging and envelope stuffing is waived for all Lady G Paperie invitation clients who also request envelope calligraphy.
